How do I join Consumer Opinion Institute?
Does membership cost anything?
No, there is no membership fee. In fact we will be offering cash for your participation! You will never be asked to buy anything as a result of your membership. All we ask is that you share your opinions.
Why does Consumer Opinion Institute ask personal questions when I join?
How do I update my contact information or change my password?
To update your name and address or email address, login using your username and password. Then click on Update Profile. You may also send us an email or call us toll-free at 1-877-362-3912. Our office is open Monday-Friday 9AM - 10PM EST and on Saturday 10AM-6PM EST.
What if I want to cancel my membership?
We hope that you will enjoy your time as a Consumer Opinion Institute member. Please contact us if ever you have a problem or difficulty. However, if you do decide to cancel your membership, there are three options:
- Log into ConsumerOpinionInstitute.com and click on unsubscribe.
- Send us an email.
- Call us toll-free at 1-877-362-3912. Our office is open Monday-Friday 9AM - 10PM EST and on Saturday 10AM-6PM EST.
Who has access to my personal information?
How do I participate in surveys?
Surveys will be sent to you in one of the following ways:
- Surveys will be sent to you through the U.S. Mail. Just complete the survey and return it to us in the included postage paid envelope. If you do not have a reply envelope please contact us to have another one sent to you.
- When an onlinesurvey is available, you will receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org asking you to login to ConsumerOpinionInstitute.com
After logging in you will be automatically routed to a page with a link to all the surveys you have available. Click on the survey you want to take then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the survey.
How often will I receive a survey from Consumer Opinion Institute?
Your time is valuable to us, we will not waste it. You can expect to receive a survey 1-2 times per month through the US Mail and about once per month online.
Who do I call if I have a question about a particular survey?
If you have a question about a particular survey or membership in general, send us an email or call us toll-free at 1-877-362-3912. Our office is open Monday-Friday 9AM - 10PM EST and on Saturday 10AM - 6PM EST.
How long will it take me to complete a survey?
We anticipate that each survey will take between 10-20 minutes of your time, depending on your responses.
Can I re-start the survey where I left off?
Yes. Should you experience a technical difficulty, or just run out of time, you may resume the survey where you left off. Just login to ConsumerOpinionInstitute.com and click on the survey you want to finish and you will be able to start where you left off.
What do I receive for taking surveys?
The incentive you receive for your participation varies depending on the survey topic and length. Usually when a survey is sent to you through the US Mail, we will include $1-$5 for your participation. If you are unable to complete the survey, don't worry, we'll catch up with you on the next one. For online surveys, we will let you know in the email what the reward is for your participation.

What type of Web browser should I use?
We have found that Internet Explorer works best, versions 5.0 or newer. We encourage all AOL members to use Internet Explorer to connect to our studies, as that browser provides faster connections to our surveys.
